Manicure: Sparkly Rudolph

Manicure: Sparkly Rudolph

I’ve been working solidly the past few weeks, so although I’ve kept my Instagram up to date, my blog has fallen on the wayside. I saw this tutorial on Beautylish the other day and I couldn’t resist. I had all the different coloured polishes handy in my possession.

I used Sephora by OPI Merry Me and Bys French White as a base. I didn’t have any of the spotting tools, so I improvised with a bamboo skewer. I used OPI Tickle my Francey for Rudolph’s face, and OPI My Private Jet for his sparkly antlers. His eyes I kept to a basic black called Misfit by MAC.

I love the way it turned out. It is such a simple and adorable design, and the sparkle adds an extra something. I’ve worn it for a week already and haven’t gotten sick of it yet – so that says a lot! I’ve received a lot of compliments on these, but I’m itching for a change.

Another day, another sparkly manicure

Another day, another sparkly manicure

I can’t believe how fast time has flown. It feels like it was only January, when I had just returned from Queensland to ring in the new year. And now, I can’t even bear to look at my calendar, it’s the tail end of November. I have to get cracking on the festive duties, i.e. Christmas cards, decor and presents.

To help put me in that festive mood, I’ve brought out the sparkly glitter polishes. Along with the cheery brights. I started with OPI’s Chopsticking to my Story, with a Missha Orange Stone feature nail. I love the giant glitter chunks that catch the light so well.

I booked myself in for a craft workshop next weekend, making green ornaments and garlands from fabric scraps. I’m super excited. There is nothing I enjoy more than making cute little knick knacks that look pretty. I have my fabric remnants all lined up already.

What do you do to get into the festive spirit?

Now I’m not one to celebrate Halloween (especially since no one really does down under), but when I came to doing my manicure the other day, I decided to do try a few spiders and cob webs on for size. I didn’t really care for anything too exuberant, so I went for subtle colours (read: nude, black and white).

I just used three different designs and repeated them on my nude polished nails. I admit from afar the spider looks like I have a dark mark on my nails, but up close its really cute and detailed. I admit I did have a bit of issue using the series 1 plates (I don’t think they’re etched as deep as the latter BM series, but I made do.

A bit of layering and a few minutes later, I ended up with this.

Manicure: Orange and gold flowers

Manicure: Orange and gold flowers

Just another quick manicure post. For this one I used OPI Chopsticking to my Story, and BYS Midas Touch. This was a first using this combination. I like the subtlety, but there were times where I wanted the gold to stand out a touch more. I guess it is a little something away from my usual black and white stamping. I love how vibrant this orange is.

I more often than not repeat manicure colour combinations when I favour them. Coral and gold is no exception. I’ve definitely used it more than once. This particular combination is Bys Midas Touch with OPI Grand Canyon Sunset over the top. The gold is more of a rich yellow gold, although it varies in the sun quite a bit. Below is what I ended up with. All the specific details about this mani are under the cut!

My apologies for the severe lack of posts. For those of you following me on Instagram, you will know that I haven’t yet fallen off the face of the planet. I’ve been caught up with crazy schedules and dinners and work and basically life! But, I’m hoping to get back on top of things soon.

My latest stamping adventures have taken on some more subdued tones. Right now its a nude and white chevron stamp. They were a bit rushed so aren’t as crisp as I’d like (as you can see in the second photo). If I had the time I would have redone some of them, but, they look alright from afar.

We’ll see how long this mani lasts on me.

Apologies I’ve gotten behind in my blog posts! I made a visit to the annual coffee festival the other day, so I have a bunch of photos from there! I got super wired, but how could you not with $2 cups of coffee. I’ll post them up soon hopefully! As per usual, life has had made a bit of a hectic turn, so I’ve either been working hard, or just relaxing, and nothing in between.

In other news, I can’t believe that it is August already. It just seems as though time has flown by so quickly. Before you know it it will be Christmas again. Sigh.

I’ve had to tone down my nails as of late. The corporate environment doesn’t look kindly upon brights or glitters. I stuck with my go-to nude, Tickle My France-y and stamped a floral design over the top in white Konad. That reminds me, I should really look into obtaining more Konad polishes. I’m quite impressed with how well they work.
