One. I haven’t kept up with documenting my nail adventures lately, but rest assured I’m still avidly collecting those little bottles. I’m debating whether or not I should buy an Ikea drawer to store them in some more of an orderly fashion than in a huge storage bin under my bed, but we’ll see how motivated I really get. I’m still trying to work my way through the Ciate haul I bought from COTD a few weeks ago. I’m keen to try the caviar, but really need the right occasion for it.
Two. I (quietly) squealed out loud when I saw my favourite brand of cider had come out with some new varieties. It wasn’t even a question that I had to buy the pink lady cider. I’d say that Pink lady and Fuji are my top two apple varieties – I like them sweet. If you’re the same, this won’t disappoint. I’ll be back for the pear later.
Three. I got a giant Matches parcel today. Half for me, half for the boy, but it came in this beautiful marbled box. I’ve included my hand in the photo for size reference. You can tell that Matches have thought out the online shopping experience from beginning to end. Love the box.
Four. I’m loving the number of amazing coffee places popping up in my immediate surrounds. I got this pretty rose from West Juliett in Marrickville. Pair it with one of their pink salt chocolate chip cookies and you have yourself a match made in heaven.
Five. This is a new obsession. I’ve been painting these little dinosaur figurines gold. Loving them on my desk. I started off using some horrid yellow gold nail polish that I knew I was never going to wear, but the other day I graduated and purchased a spray can of metallic gold paint. Best move ever. Watch this space, more gold tidbits to come.
Continuing on with my increasing cynicism, I’m noticing that one (random) person during my peak hour train trip to work who without fail stops right before the ticket turnstiles before rummaging through their bag to find their train ticket. Meanwhile I’m always the unlucky one who stands directly behind them and can’t go into any other lanes else I be banished into the bad books by other disgruntled city workers. Oh I really must stop noticing such silly things.
I’ve resorted to online window shopping. I’m on a self imposed spending ban until my trip in 80-something days. I found these super cute J.Crew t-bar flats. I’d love them even more if they came in a leather slash satin black combination. I really want black t-bar shoes. Whether they be flats or heels, I don’t think I’d mind.
I’ve been really uninspired with manicures lately. I’m not sure what it is, but I find myself sticking to solid colours. I haven’t really touched my nail stamps that much this month. Here’s hoping that’ll change this month. I did a pseudo-skittle manicure with some purple and sparkles the other day. Nothing interesting. As is life. Le sigh.
Here’s hoping I’ll have something a little more interesting to post about next time. Hah.
I remembered to take some pics of my latest stamping adventures the other day. I seemingly have ventured down the blue path with my bags and purses, so in an effort to remain somewhat coordinated, I decided to do a winter blue manicure.
I purchased the Winstonia plates a few weeks ago and have been itching to use more of them. Each plate is seasonal, and so I selected a winter-esque one from the Christmas plate (W120) on the far right.
My base colour is Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue – this has been my go to blue shade this season. I can’t get over how bright and vibrant the colour is. It borders on a slight purple tinge, which probably explains a little of my bias towards it.
I need a little more practice in stamping on a straight line. Hah. They progressively become a little more angled as you go from left to right. Not sure why that is how it is, but yes. I need to stamp more!
I finished off with my usual layer of Seche to make it nice and shiny. I’m debating what my next manicure will be now. I’m leaning towards alternating to a glitter mani now! (AND I’m so glad that it is the last month of winter!)
I’m so glad the sun has decided to show up today. That solid week of rain was such a bummer. I’ll admit it was fun to wear the gumboots and stomp in all the puddles (as if I were five again, hah). But coupled with the non-stop rain and freezing cold, it just got exhausting. It just ain’t fun. I picked up a few new polishes from the Priceline sale a few weeks ago. I got some new ones at the Glam Polish sale too, but we won’t talk about that now.
I used Sally Hansen’s Crushed Xtreme Wear stamped with a Konad white polish. The rainy week left me deprived of a warm summer’s day so I thought a little bit of citrus would brighten things up a bit. I’m pretty impressed with Sally Hansen polishes. I wouldn’t have given them a go if it weren’t for the fact that they were down to 2 bucks at the Priceline sales.
So insanely obsessed with nail stamping these days. I just wish I had more time in the
day week to keep up with how often I change my mind about the patterns. ANYWAY! So glad it is Friday tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great end to the week! Xx
I’m struggling to keep my head above water at the moment. I’m essentially procrastinating as I type this, but a girl’s gotta have an outlet. I can never imagine what it is like to be busy when I’m idle. If that makes any sense whatsoever. I’m quite thankful to be busy – it’s always good to keep your mind occupied and have deadlines and targets to aspire to. I must remember to keep drinking water though. Being busy often causes me to skip the essentials.
Two things that did keep me relatively sane today are my current manicure (spots, stripes and florals) + my bright blue Ant that I brought in with me today. I rarely have green mani’s so it was a nice refreshing change. Not sure about the red flowers though. I might change that soon. I generally don’t bring the Ant with me to work, but I felt like a bit of colour in my outfit.
On the food front, I popped by Lorraine’s Patisserie today to try a pie. It was lovely and delicious and flakey. The beef pie is more tomato-ey than gravy-ey as H pointed out, but I still really enjoyed it. It was a teensy bit on the oily side, but it made up for it in taste. I also went to Sassy Red earlier in the week for nasi lemak. I think this I’m OD’ing a bit on the comfort food this week.
Anyway, I hope everyone’s week is a bit saner than mine is at the moment!
My manicure is a few days old already but I thought that I’d put it up on the blog. I was inspired by the Nailasaurus’ latest neon mani. Apologies for the slight tip wear on the nails. I think it’s time for a change sometime soon. I used Sally Hansen’s Pacific Blue that I picked up from the latest Priceline 40% off everything sale. I saw it sitting on its lonesome on the shelf and knew I needed it in my collection.
It’s a pretty electric blue shade with a hint of purple. If you know me you know I just can’t pass up on *any* shade of purple. Such a quick and easy mani that produces some pretty patterns. I’m a sucker for geometric lines.
Another shot of the manicure in the sun. As you can see, the lines aren’t as crisp as I’d like, but you don’t really notice them from afar.
What’s your fav nail colour at the moment?
I haven’t had much time for nail art in my life lately. It’s mostly been the work-home-sleep cycle. As soon as I get home, its usually time to make dinner, eat, then work on my latest DIY-tassel project. Not that I’m complaining. Anyway. I’m into simple manicures these days. Ever since doing my nail swatches, I’ve realised how many similar shades I have in different finishes. I opted for neutrals today, a cream grey and a metallic grey.
I’m pretty happy with it – i.e. I haven’t yet had the urge to stamp over it or change it to a different shade. I used M.A.C On the Prowl and China Glaze Platinum Silver. I might stamp it on the weekend. Maybe…
